Government First Grade College, Channapatna is the most potential college among all colleges affiliated to Bangalore University. The potentiality is reflected in an increase in enrolment of students for all courses year after year and enhancement of infrastructure facilities available to students. I believe that the students are the real strength of the college. In 1984 only 70 students were admitted. The total students’ strength of the college at present is 2078. There has been enormous increase in the number of students. More than 80% of students come from rural and remote areas. Most of the students belong to first generation. The students who are studying in this college are talented and hardworking. Ours is a co-education college. Girls account for more than 50% of the total strength. The Government is giving importance to education of girls as it wants to empower women. Girls are exempted from payment of tuition fees. This Institution is having a good composition of girls and boys

Government first grade college, channapatna has an excellent teaching and efficient administrative staff. The teachers are committed to their profession and they are honest and devoted to their duty. They keep on updating their knowledge by attending seminars, conferences and workshops. Many of our teachers posses Ph.D. degree. Some are pursuing Doctorate degree. The faculty of our college will keep abreast of changes taking place in higher education. A few of our teachers are invited as resource persons. The teaching faculty consists of new and young and the most experienced ones. Students are taught about the importance of self-learning in addition to class room learning.

Government first grade college, Channapatna is a model to other colleges. It has grown both in terms of quantity and quality. The performance of students is very high in the examinations. They bring good results every year. Some students score more than 90%. The Institution is producing graduates of excellence and competencies who can fit into the society and lead quality life. The college has potential alumni. The products of the college are placed in various fields such as Government service, social service, politics, Journalism and self- employed.

Over a period of 25 years the college has made significant strides in the field of higher education. This is the only potential college at taluk level in the entire Karnataka State. With the co-operation of the staff of the college it becomes possible to scale the new heights in the arena of higher education. The college has carved its own niche in the field of higher education.
