B.com course has been offered since the erstwhile college was started in 1984.The course has picked up well in the last five years. The demand for B.com course has been growing tremendously in this mofussil area. The department is known for excellent teaching by competent teachers. The B.com course offered by the college is attracting students not only from Channapatna but also from neighbouring Taluks.The employability of commerce graduates is on increase. The commerce graduates of this college have been largely absorbed by the corporate sector. The commerce graduates from this college are not un employed. On account of liberlisation and globilisation the corporate sector has created a good job market for commerce graduates. They can also be self-employed. They can become employers rather than employees. They can also become professionals by passing professional examinations like CA, ICWA &CS. There is a dearth for commerce teachers in UG and PG colleges. If they become post-graduates in commerce and subsequently pass NET or SLET examination they may become professors of commerce and lead happy and fruitful life by contributing something tangible to the society.
