The Department of Sociology was started in the year 1984.The vision of the Department has been to inculcate social values and good virtues into the young minds apart from teaching Sociology. The Department began with HES combination in which Sociology has been offered as an elective subject. Another HSK combination was introduced in the year 2002 so as to satisfy the needs of time. Sociology is offered as compulsory subject in this programme. The Department is currently teaching the students of HES and HSK. These two programmes are offered as per the Bangalore University regulations. The Department started with 20 students and now it has around 400 students. The Department has been expanded with increase in number of students every year. Bringing quality into the teaching and learning process is the sole aim of the Department. |

The Department has adequate teaching staff. The teachers in the Department are the most efficient and effective. They are committed for the noble cause of students. They always enrich their knowledge through participating in seminars, conferences and workshops. |

The Department has made commendable achievents in terms of results. The results of the department are morethan90% in each semester examinations. The students have been motivated to undertake social research through extension activities. |
